Troubleshooting
Common issues and solutions:
Backup Fails: Check network connectivity, verify credentials, ensure sufficient disk space
Slow Backups: Review network bandwidth, check for large files, consider scheduling during off-hours
Backup frequency depends on your configuration. You can set up continuous backups (real-time), scheduled backups (daily, weekly, or custom intervals), or on-demand backups. Most businesses use daily scheduled backups with continuous backup for critical files.
How long are backups retained?▼
Retention periods are configurable. Default settings typically retain daily backups for 30 days, weekly backups for 12 weeks, and monthly backups for 12 months. You can customize these settings based on your compliance and business needs.
Is my data encrypted?▼
Yes, all data is encrypted both in transit and at rest. Backup Boss uses industry-standard AES-256 encryption for data at rest and TLS 1.3 for data in transit. Your encryption keys are managed securely and never shared.
How fast can I restore my data?▼
Restore speed depends on the amount of data and your internet connection. Individual files typically restore in seconds. Full system restores may take longer depending on data volume. Backup Boss optimizes restore operations for speed.
What happens if I exceed my storage limit?▼
If you exceed the included 1 TB per device, additional storage is billed at $2.00 per TB per month. You'll receive notifications as you approach your limit, and you can upgrade your plan or purchase additional storage at any time.
Can I cancel anytime?▼
Yes, you can cancel your Backup Boss subscription at any time. There are no cancellation fees or long-term contracts. Your backups will be retained for 30 days after cancellation, giving you time to migrate if needed.
